Annette McLellan

With a background in Women and Gender Studies (BA & MA) and experience working with and for organizations prioritizing women’s lived experiences, the clientele I serve are mostly women and women identified persons though I have and do work with adults of all genders ages 18 years and up.

I work from an anti-oppressive, feminist and intersectional lens (recognizing that both oppression and our identities are complex, layered and multiple).

Embracing an overall person-centered and narrative approach to therapy, I work through a number of modalities using a diverse array of interventions including those stemming from: Person/client-centered therapy and Narrative therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Existential Therapy, Ecotherapy and Somatic oriented therapies incorporating mindfulness and self-compassion strategies throughout.

I work collaboratively with each client to explore and move towards understanding and healing of a diverse array of presenting concerns: Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Overwhelm, Self-Doubt, Self-Criticism, Grief, Trauma, Guilt, Shame, Work/Life balance, Relational issues, Eco-Anxiety, Eco-Grief and other general mental health struggles.

I practice from a non-pathologizing, trauma-informed stance and understand health and wellness from a holistic (mind-body-environment-meaning) lens with the ultimate goal of therapy being a transcendent, growth oriented, sense of well-being.
